Someone once told me the reason they loved shoes so much was because they always fit. Isn’t that true, clothes never fit the way you want them to but you can always count on shoes fitting and looking great. I am on the hunt for the perfect shoe, the black boot. I found zappos.com a couple years ago and absolutely love it. They have a huge shoe selection, lots of great brands and best of all – they have free overnight shipping! Yep, if you order your shoes by 2 p.m. today they are on your doorstep tomorrow. And if your shoes don’t fit then you print off one of their labels and send it right back free of charge! This is seriously the greatest thing to me! These Calvin Klein boots are so fabulous and classic. Click on the link to check out zappos.com!
***Since writing this post Zappos has done away with free overnight shipping - dang economy! However, they do still provide free standard shipping.
I had an epiphany the other day, I decided that I was sick of being afraid and sick of thinking about all that I could do and never doing anything about it. It's a new year and I have discovered that I am afraid to fail. Yes, I am one of those people, the ones that let fear hold them back from accomplishing great things. But its a new year and time for change! I am going to set goals and accomplish them. I will not be afraid because I won't allow time for fear. I am going to try everything I have always wanted to, I might fail at some things but I will learn from my failure and hopefully grow in the process. It is time for me to move onward and upward."Winners make things happen, losers let things happen."
My husband and I took a drive through Logan Canyon this October and marveled at all that fall had to offer - the crisp clean air, the smell of rain in the distance, and all the bold colors! My husband took this picture and I love it - there is something so calming about it. I am going to blow it up, frame it, and hang it on my wall.
I have to admit there is a little “Martha Stewart” in me that just wants to set tables and throw little themed parties. This is really quite humorous if you know me, because I am not the party-going kind of person – I’m definitely a homebody. But every time I see finger food recipes and ideas for dinner parties, I dream up all the details about how I would throw the perfect brunch. I found this recipe for Mint Juleps in Utah Style and Design magazine; it is so good that I just had to share it with you. So go ahead and plan a small get-together with this drink as the focus – your guests will be dazzled!
Just like every other woman out there, I adore a good love story! Romeo and Juliet, The Notebook, Pride and Prejudice, Ross and Rachel…I could go on forever. I just finished the book, The Last Summer (of You and Me) by Ann Brashares and it is amazing. It is one of those stories you think about all day long, planning when you have a free minute to read a chapter here and a chapter there. I love when someone recommends a book for me to read so I am recommending this book to you—I promise you will love it!
I am rebelling…rebelling against the term “scrapbooking.” Whenever people ask me what I do I say “I design custom photo albums for families,” and they always question, “photo albums?” And then I do it – I don’t want to but it seems the only way to gain mutual understanding, I say “like scrapbooking.” Immediately they reply “Oh, how cool!” See I feel that the term scrapbooking implies that the albums I create are crafty, full of lace and froof - not that I have anything against froof, but that’s not really what I do. Although my pages have a little spunk, my photo albums are designed to showcase the pictures - not the other way around. After they understand what it is I’m trying to explain, I would just love to give them my whole theory on why I prefer the term photo album instead of scrapbook but I usually never get to (not to worry - I realize that I may be the only one who really cares about the distinction anyway. Oh well.).
