While many kids in their youth were listening to cheesy kid appropriate music I was being educated on the great music from the 60’s and 70’s. I listened to everything from The Mamas and the Papas to Simon & Garfunkel, The Beatles to Cat Stevens, Styx to Otis Redding I could go on forever. I seemed to be stuck a few decades behind everyone else when it came to music. I discovered the music of the 80’s (hello Heart & Bon Jovi) when I was in middle school and finally caught up to current music in high school. I have come to appreciate music from every age and still listen to the good ol’ classics I grew up on.
For some reason one band was always a step above the rest. When I listen to their music I constantly discover something new I love about them. Yes, it’s The Eagles. The greatest story tellers out there (remember Hotel California). Oh, and their love songs are just perfection (Love Will Keep Us Alive & The Best of My Love to name a few). And who couldn’t get up and dance to Heartache Tonight? I love the little country style in The Eagles music that just gives it a raw edge. It’s one of my dreams to see them live in concert; hopefully I’ll get that chance someday. Until then I want my kids to be exposed to the greats of the past, so on with the education!
