"New" Blog

Yes, my blog has had a makeover.  I got to the point where I wasn’t enjoying what I was writing about and so I decided that it was time for a change.  Inspiration is necessary when you are asked to create everyday, especially on days that I feel less then inspired.  So my “new” blog is dedicated to things that inspire me.  Design, food, fashion, music, the arts, nature, travel and everything else in-between, you’ll see it all here.  My hope is that inspiration to create {in any form} will come from my blog.

Cheers!

The Eagles

While many kids in their youth were listening to cheesy kid appropriate music I was being educated on the great music from the 60’s and 70’s.  I listened to everything from The Mamas and the Papas to Simon & Garfunkel, The Beatles to Cat Stevens, Styx to Otis Redding I could go on forever.  I seemed to be stuck a few decades behind everyone else when it came to music.  I discovered the music of the 80’s (hello Heart & Bon Jovi) when I was in middle school and finally caught up to current music in high school.  I have come to appreciate music from every age and still listen to the good ol’ classics I grew up on.

For some reason one band was always a step above the rest.  When I listen to their music I constantly discover something new I love about them.  Yes, it’s The Eagles.  The greatest story tellers out there (remember Hotel California).  Oh, and their love songs are just perfection (Love Will Keep Us Alive & The Best of My Love to name a few).  And who couldn’t get up and dance to Heartache Tonight?  I love the little country style in The Eagles music that just gives it a raw edge.  It’s one of my dreams to see them live in concert; hopefully I’ll get that chance someday.  Until then I want my kids to be exposed to the greats of the past, so on with the education!

Nailed It!

So spring is here and one of the first things I want to do is wear sandals.  I don’t know if my feet are sick of socks and heavy boots but they just want a breath of fresh air.  While I love getting pedicures and manicures sometimes it is just easier (and cheaper) to give yourself the perfect polish.  I love OPI’s color and quality.  They have so many options and on their website {click here to go to OPI's website} you can see exactly what the color will look like before you buy.  Painting your nails is like getting your hair done, you feel like a new women with a great refreshing nail color.  Here are a few colors we must try for spring.

I have always believed that a good nail color can make the best sandal that much better!

Easter Treats

Okay – yes, I am talking about candy again.  But you can’t expect Easter to come and go and have me not to talk about my favorite Easter candy.  While jellybeans, chocolate and peanut butter bunnies and colorful malt balls that stain your lips and tongue are all great, my absolute favorite Easter candy is the Cadbury Mini Eggs.  And I know I’m not alone here.  As soon as Valentines Day is over, out come the pinks, greens, and yellows along with baskets, fake grass and colored egg kits.  The seasonal aisle is one of my favorite aisles at the grocery store especially when it contains Cadbury Mini Eggs!

Now for that perfect basket to put them in…I like this one.

Check out this LINK for a step by step on how to make the fabric Easter basket - from Moda Bake Shop.

David Yurman

I love jewelry.  I mean, what woman doesn’t?  There are so many brands and so many options but I’m always drawn to David Yurman’s chunky yet classic jewelry.  There are too many beautiful pieces that really, they must be collected.

Now if the price tag was a little better!  But there is no need to wait for someone to gift it to you, I love the idea of women buying their own jewelry, it's the independent woman in me.  Like Destiny's Child said "the rocks I'm rocking, I bought it, 'cause I depend on me if I want it!"  (((Did I just quote a Destiny's Child song...oh dear, where did I go wrong.)))

Well...just in case you want to throw your hands up - you can listen here.

{How this post became about independent women instead of jewelry is beyond me}

Memorabilia

mem o ra bil i a
[mem-er-uh-bil-ee-uh, -bil-yuh]

- plural noun, singular  -o rab i le
[-uh-rab-uh-lee]

  1. mementos; souvenirs
  2. matters or event worthy to be remembered; points worthy of note.

When I design albums I must have all the pamphlets, tickets, maps, cards, passes, receipts etc. as possible.  These things carry so much character with them.  The bent corners and creases add to the style and excite the memories.  I am working on a European album and I just love all the ticket stubs that marry beautifully with the photos.  My mother had a scrapbook as a teenager and she included fabric swatches from the prom dress she made and posters to road shows.  It is one of my favorite books and I am so glad to have the extra element of texture and dimension.  In working closely with clients about their photos many feel like no one would be interested in their memories.  Well I beg to differ, the generation that follows you will treasure every thought and experience.

I’m joining the Save Everything of Importance then put it in an Album team!

Song Of The Day

Ocean of Noise - Arcade Fire

Do you ever listen to an album that you’ve had forever and all the sudden a song just jumps out and you think wow, this is a really great song?  Well that’s what happened to me the other day.  I have heard this song so many times but I never realized how much I loved it until Friday.  It’s my song of the moment.

Also, Arcade Fire just won a Grammy for Album of the Year beating Lady Gaga, Eminem & Kate Perry.  Go Arcade Fire…
